"It's too cold, Len." Mick complained shivering, "I wanna go home."
"It's friggen 50 out here not cold, and no peeking" Len slapped the pyro's hand away from his face.
"I wasn't peeking I was warming my cheeks, What's with the blindfold anyways I know we're in the freakin park."
Len adjusted the man's blindfold, "You're getting fat I was taking you for a walk now shut up and follow my lead, and quit fooling with it!"
Mick rolled his eyes under the fabric and allowed himself to be towed around. Once or twice he swore he felt a snow flake on the tip of his nose and no way in hell was he gonna be around for that shit. If Len was here to show him snow, he wasn't interested. Unlike the captain, Rory preferred to hide in his home next to a (couple of) warm toasty fires, drinking hot coffee, wearing too many layers with the windows boarded up. Only to emerge from his den to cause winter mayhem, melting the snow. It was late in the season though, and that was the only reason Len got him over his threshold to begin with, because it definitely wasn't going to happen in winter.
"I'm not getting fat, I'm in better shape then you!" Mick complained.
"I should know." Len smirked while Mick couldn't see he heard the smirk, and the eyebrows raising up Len's forehead.
"Uh Though, that's not really why we're oh shit!"
"Christ pick up your feet moron!" Len dragged Mick upright again and picked up his pace.
"I wouldn't have tripped if you slowed down!"
"I'm not even going fast, I don't want our spot to get taken! Because of your slow ass, it's almost lunch and there's always some old bag sitting in it at lunch."
"You sound like you scouted out the place first, whoamf," Mick suddenly toppled over from a plank to the thigh and nearly took a nosedive into the stone path but luckily for him and his nose, Len was quick to right him again.
"Stop that." He grumbled, dropping Rory into the park bench he'd just encountered. "We're here."
Mick felt the seat creak as he joined the pyro and sighed, "Can I take the thing off now."
"Huh? Oh yeah
go ahead, and look up."
Mick undid the cloth and blinked in the bright light, "Okay
. Looking up
" he said, watching the clouds.
Mick sighed and tilted his head forward a little, "Okay. Trees."
"Yeah they're changing color. They're all red and yellow and shit." Len sighed, gesturing.
"Remind you of anything?"
Mick blinked, staring, "Is there a shape in the leaves I'm trying to look for or
fuck. Well here's the second part." Len pulled a paper pair of red and blue glasses and passed them to the other.
"No shit I bummed them off the theatre, now put them on and look at the leaves."
Mick sighed and put them on, looking around at the park, "Okay now everything's blurry."
"Leaves." Len grabbed Mick's head in his hand and pulled it to look up, "Now what does it look like?"
"Blurry leaves." Mick stated, liddedly, "What are we doing."
The captain sighed, "Gahr, It's supposed to look like Fire! Fire Mick!"
Rory raised his brow, "Blurry leaves."
. Pretend it's fire!"
"Shut the fuck up and enjoy you present."
The two stared for a while at the rustling leaves, Mick wearing the 3D glasses until finally Len sighed okay, plan B, "Wanna grab some steak?"
The pair stood up and walked down to the street until Mick broke the awkward silence, "So
. What's this all about?"
it's the 14th
" Len shrugged, "I don't know, I mean, never did anything for you for Valentine's day before and "
"Valentine's Day" Mick coughed, sliding the 3D glasses into his pocket, "Len I think that's in February and it's November
Cold looked up at Mick blankly, "No, it's in November
I'm positive. February 14 is Valentine's Day"
